Engagement of Students

Different students took more interest than others with the activities. For example, our first group of students were extremely excited and even competitive with one another when it came to completing the different tasks. However, our second group included a few more shy students. They were a bit nervous to answer any questions asked or to work with each other. A couple times they needed support to help them make their next move.

Differentiated Instruction

It wasn't until the second group of student we realized that they'd benefit more by being split up among our stations. While we had all the students work together to problem-solve our acrylic turtle puzzle, we realized having them all watch the matching game allowed for students to recognize the matches once it was their turn. We decided to have students working on coloring animal patterns as one played the matching game individually. Once they were completed, they began a coloring worksheet while we alternated a new student to the matching game.

Time Management

Not only did we have to adjust to each student's personality, but they each had unique amount of dedication. Again with our first group, they finished our planned activities way ahead of time and we had to think on our feet to continue engaging the students. After they had completed the puzzle and matching game, we quickly decided to introduce students to drawing samples of animal patterns. This prepared us for what to expect with our next groups, however the next groups didn't end up working through the stations as fast as our first group.

  1. Hello,

The reflection is very neat and works well separately from the other blog. I would recommend linking the other blog about the Digital MakerSpace here though.

  2. I love the design concept of this post! Some ISTE CT standards that could be added to this are 2d, 3b, 4a, and 4d. Unfortunately, none of our groups finished the activity, so it was nice to see that you had one group finish ahead of time. Although each group varied, I would like to know what is one thing you would change to make this activity better in your eyes?
